For inspired audiobook narrators ready to take their work to the next level, this day-long acting intensive is limited to six participants. This workshop immerses narrators into their acting craft, focusing on the Actor’s Instrument (body, voice, and speech), exploring character development techniques for eliciting greater nuance and honesty, and presenting processes that expand the role of our inner ‘director’.

Curriculum

Part 1 - The Actor Master physical and vocal technique for extending range and choice options when creating characters, and learn to maintain vocal health; techniques from Grotowski

Part 2 - The Character Learn text analysis skills to deepen the process of character discovery; techniques from Uta Hagen, Meisner, and Stanislavsky

Part 3 - The Director Internalize and master the process of crafting characters in your narration; learn to suspend self-judgment and turn your inner critic into an effective inner director
